The Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History invites the community to a special centennial celebration of the iconic 1926 silent film The General , starring Buster Keaton and Marion Mack on June 6, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The celebration will include an 11 a.m. presentation by Historian Ryan Lintelman from the National Museum of American History that will tie into the centennial celebration of the silent film. Highlights of the event include: $2.50 Admission All Day Georgia Brass Band performance from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Dalton Dulcimers performance from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. to lead to the soft opening of the Museum’s new Worker’s House and Lacy Exhibit from 10:45 to 11:00 a.m. Presentation by Historian Ryan Lintelman from 11:00 a.m. to noon. Staff led tours at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Special viewings of the 1926 silent film The General from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. The 250 Years in Motion event is included with museum admission and is free for museum members.
